Una factura electrónica es la representación en formato electrónico de dicho documento. Es decir, se genera y mantiene electrónicamente y reemplaza al documento físico. Por lo que tiene idéntico valor fiscal y legal.
Es un equivalente funcional de la factura en papel y consiste en la transmisión de las facturas o documentos análogo entre emisor y receptor por medios electrónicos y telemáticos.
¿Qué NO ES una factura electrónica?
La principal diferencia está en enviar facturas en un formato electrónico y en enviar facturas que, además de estar en dicho formato, poseean validez legal y fiscal. Esta última no dejaría de ser un fichero que contiene una factura pero el envío y almacenamiento del original deberá ser en papel.
Por lo anterior, en el caso que una empresa reciba un email sin firmar con un fichero adjunto (pdf, gif, jpg, word, excel), que almacena el contenido de una factura, esta no puede ser considerada una factura electrónica con validez legal y fiscal en tanto en cuanto ese fichero tiene que estar firmado con una firma electrónica avanzada.
En el caso de existir algún proceso de firmado electrónico, no hay que olvidar que la normativa establece una serie de obligaciones tanto para el emisor como para el receptor de la factura. iFACTURAE es una aplicación que permite el intercambio de facturas electrónicas entre empresas y sus socios de negocios (clientes y/o proveedores), reemplazando la factura tradicional en papel por una factura telemática trasmitida de forma electrónica a través de Internet independientemente del número de documentos, montante, etc.
